Each Spring, more than 100 skaters from North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and other nearby states compete in the annual Triad Team Invitational Figure Skating Competition hosted by the Triad Ice Skating Club and the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Annex.

Skaters of all age levels, from toddlers to seniors, compete for medals in individual events as well as first-place team trophy. Events include:

• Tot, Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta
• Freestyle Levels 1-10
• Stroking, Pre-Alpha through Delta
• Footwork, Freestyle 1-10
• Artistic, Freestyle 1-10
• Compulsories
• Interpretive, Freestyle 1-10
• Interpretive Spotlight
• Spotlight Character, Alpha through Freestyle 10
• Spotlight Light Entertainment, Alpha through Freestyle 10
• Spotlight Dramatic, Freestyle 1-10
• Family Spotlight
• Group Spotlight
• Dance 1-10, Solo
• Dance 1-10, Couples
• Pairs 1-10
• Couples 1-10
• Figures 1-10
• Synchronized, Formation, Comedy, and Spotlight Teams

Entry Fees:

Single - $30.00 for first event, and $8.00 for each additional event.

Family - $50.00 for up to three events, and $8.00 for each additional event.

Deadline for Entries: February 1, 2002.

The event is recognized by the international Ice Skating Institute. Although competitors must pay a fee to participate, admission to view the events is free. Events run from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The competition is made possible through the generous contributions of area businesses and the sale of program advertisements, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and other skating accessories.
